Old Spanish houses are beautiful homes  and if you like historic homes then Coral Gables is your place. However, if you are not  familiar with living  in an older home. You might want start going to open houses and check out the sizes and different floor plans.  Most Coral Gables “Old Spanish” homes have been beautifully updated and some have not been upated. Remember, these homes were built before the use of air conditioning and may have passed through several owners and each owner may have put their touches on their home at the time of ownership.

Otherwise, you may find that you are limited in what you can do to the property.

Ask if any of the properties that you are looking are Historic Homes. if this is the case that is great ,however , the title does carry some responsibility with it once you assume ownership the house. Coral Gables became the first City in Dade County to enact legislation, which addressed the community’s interest in preserving its historic heritage.
